Advanced Manufacturing

Riverside County is at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, driving innovation, technology, and collaboration across various industries.

From aerospace and medical devices to semiconductors and clean energy components, advanced manufacturing is creating new opportunities for businesses and residents throughout the region.

Mobility Technology

Riverside is emerging as a hub for mobility technology. The County supports companies like Voltu, which is establishing its global headquarters and manufacturing facility here to produce electric, zero-emission work trucks. Voltu’s Class 3 electric trucks combine onboard fast charging, modern battery cooling, and advanced powertrains to meet rigorous performance and emissions standards. These trucks are part of broader efforts to transition fleets away from fossil fuels.

Additionally, Ohmio has moved its international headquarters to Riverside to design and build all-electric autonomous shuttles. Ohmio collaborates closely with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), UC Riverside, the Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT), and other local institutions to test vehicles, develop R&D, and pilot deployment in city transit routes. These projects position Riverside as a leader in clean, connected transportation.

While new companies continue to move into the region, established employers like El Dorado National California (ENC) also play a key role in the local economy. For more than 45 years, ENC has delivered reliable, efficient, and high-quality buses that connect people to their destinations, and today it remains a leading U.S. heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer headquartered in Riverside. ENC has resumed operations, producing buses with various propulsion options, including battery-electric, clean diesel, hybrid, and compressed natural gas buses in multiple configurations. ENC is proud to have been one of the first companies to produce a hydrogen fuel cell bus, demonstrating dedication to innovation and sustainability. Their vehicles are built end-to-end at ENC’s Riverside facility, serving diverse markets such as public transit, paratransit, airports, parking facilities, and universities.

Semiconductors

The semiconductor industry is a cornerstone of Riverside County's advanced manufacturing sector. Skorpios Technologies, Inc., a leader in integrated silicon photonics and nanostructure technologies, has relocated its semiconductor wafer fabrication operations to a 450,000-square-foot facility in Temecula, Riverside County. Skorpios specializes in both contract and next-generation semiconductor fabrication, supporting applications in high-speed video, data and voice communications for networking, cloud computing, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

Aerospace & Defense

Collins Aerospace, a division of Raytheon Technologies, operates a major facility in Riverside, focusing on the design, integration, and manufacturing of aerospace systems.
